Steve is the Owner and Founder of SLiCE. Growing up in Mt Pearl, Steve started playing tennis at the Mt. Pearl Tennis Club at age 8 and began coaching at 17. His coaching career now spans 23 years and has lead him to become one of the highest certified coaches in Canada (Coach 3, Club Pro 3, NCCP Level 2 Pickleball), while developing multiple National #1 players and International Champions, winning the National Coaching Excellence Award, and overseeing national standard programs for thousands of players from Beginner to Elite in St. John's Halifax and Toronto.

Manager & Coach

Sophie has been playing tennis since 2012, while growing up in St. John's and spending over a year in England. She was a 2025 Canada Games Tennis Athlete, representing NL and began coaching in 2022. Sophie is a Certified Instructor, and since starting, has been delivering Tennis and Pickleball lessons in Kids and Beginner Adult Groups. Sophie is studying Earth Science and Geography at Memorial University and really enjoys getting new players, like you, onto the courts!

 Senior Coach

A passionate competitor-turned-coach, Adam brings years of racket/paddle sports experience to every lesson. As a national certified level 1 pickleball coach, he combines formal training with constant study of the game, analyzing techniques, strategies, trends, and the latest equipment, to better serve his students. He enjoys introducing the game to new players and helping developing players reach the next level. 

Whether you’re picking up a paddle for the first time or aiming to elevate your skillset for tournament play, Adam is committed to making every session fun, engaging, insightful, and tailored for your growth in the sport.

Senior Coach

Heidi currently works with Deaf and hard of hearing students at Holy Heart High School. She is passionate about accessibility in all avenues of life, including sports! She is active in local ladies soccer, volleyball and touch football leagues. Heidi has competed in many tournaments, including Atlantics, winning Gold in 2026 and is a National Silver Medalist in Singles! She has introduced the sport to countless people already and loves seeing folks of all ages and abilities become passionate for pickleball. Heidi is looking forward to developing lots of pickleball superstars and is super enthusiastic about getting you onto the court!

Coach

Colin is a Tennis Canada Certified Club Profesional Level 1 and has been a coach at the Mount Pearl Tennis Club since 2022. Colin is trained and experienced to deliver fast-paced, fun filled group training and higher level technical analysis to help you improve your game quickly. Colin is now also studying Human Biosciences at Memorial University and is looking forward to help you and your kids get into the game!

Coach

A school counsellor and a mom of two little ones, Emily discovered pickleball after years of playing table tennis and badminton. She is now completely obsessed! Emily loves pickleball for the mental and physical health benefits, from a great workout and positive social connections to making it her favourite form of self-care.

A SLiCE student turned coach, she is excited to be part of the team that helped her learn and fall in love with the sport. She can't wait to pass that same passion for pickleball on to you!

Marketing Manager & Coach

Alicia is our media marketer and one of our tennis coaches who has been playing since 2008, including competitive success at several annual Atlantic tournaments! She is from St. John’s, spent time living in Italy, and has since been delivering tennis lessons to Kids and Adults in the metro area. Alicia is studying Business at Memorial University, along with working on her music career!

She can't wait to get new players like you interested and passionate for our sport!
