Steve Mahar
Steve is the Owner and Founder of SLiCE. Growing up in Mt Pearl, Steve started playing tennis at the Mt. Pearl Tennis Club at age 8 and began coaching at 17. His coaching career now spans 23 years and has lead him to become one of the highest certified coaches in Canada (Coach 3, Club Pro 3, NCCP Level 2 Pickleball), developing multiple National #1 players and International Champions, winning multiple coaching awards, and overseeing national standard programs for thousands of players from Beginner to Elite.
Sophie Rideout
Sophie has been playing tennis since 2012, while growing up in St. John's and spending over a year in England. She is a 2025 Canada Games Tennis Athlete, representing NL and began coaching in 2022. Sophie is a Certified Instructor, and since starting, has been delivering Tennis and Pickleball in Kids and Beginner Adult Groups. Sophie is also studying Earth Systems at Memorial University and really enjoys getting new players, like you, onto the courts!
Colin Martin
Colin is a Tennis Canada Certified Club Profesional Level 1 and has been a coach at the Mount Pearl Tennis Club since 2022. Colin is trained and experienced to deliver fast-paced, fun filled group training and higher level technical analysis to help you improve your game quickly. Colin is now also studying Human Biosciences at Memorial University and is looking forward to help you and your kids get into the game!
